Bowl Gogi is a local build-your-own Korean bibimbap and bulgogi restaurant. Although they only offer disposables, they have truly made an effort to be environmental champions. Environmental friendliness is in all of their restaurant’s operations and their employees were more than happy to show Chop Food Not Trees all their service ware options. Offering all compostable service ware is just the start. Here’s the breakdown:
In-Store Service Ware (Score: 4)
NO reusables
ALL compostable (even boba straws & sauce containers!)
For In-Store customers, they do not include a bowl lid
Take-Out Service Ware (Score: 5)
ALL compostable
Disposal Options & Accessibility (Score: 5)
Recycling & Compost only bins
Labelled & color-coded
Compost is offered in two different stations, but the main station is by the front doors
BONUS POINT: signage come w/ a description of what can be composted and images!
Bonus Points (Score: 3)
Blackboards/TVs instead of paper menus/posters (all paper menus laminated for longer use)
BowlGogi cuts all plastic bottle rings (the ones that go around packs of cans) before disposing
Investment in harder to find compostable items (sauce containers, straws, and plastic bags)
Top 3 Next Steps:
Consider a reusable option for In-Store customers
Provide a garbage bin available for customers who have other trash that could contaminate the compost/recycling
ncrease publicity about awesome commitment to being green!
