Reasons to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Still not convinced? Here are a few more reasons why climate change matters:

Making it Worse is Inevitable...

From shopping to simply driving, most human actions today hurt the environment and contribute to climate change. The only solution to making it better is to actively make changes to lessen the inevitable. That is why taking action on small things (which eventually become big things) matters.

It's Up to US

When asked what he wishes Bellevue residents knew, Bellevue Park Ranger Dustin Van Nieulande explained that Bellevue should realize only 20-30% of city land is owned by the city, meaning private owners need to be conscious of how they treat their land

Whether you're a landowner, a business owner, or simply a Bellevue resident, it is important to see that we're all in this together. Our actions impact us, and we can't wait for others to make change for us. If we want to continue enjoying our parks, clean air, and city, we need to individually take action.

Plastic is EVERYWHERE

Humans produce, use, and throw away so much plastic, a material meant to last forever. Just from the food industry alone, thousands of tons of plastic are put into the environment.

  • ~150 million tons of plastic circulate our marine environment (~269k tons from food ware)

  • More than 100 million plastic utensils are used by Americans every day

  • Plastic production, use, and degradation is toxic to human and environmental health
